BABS BIG & BEAUTIFUL “SAYS IT ALL”
BABS is a size-acceptance organization founded September 13, 1993, with a determined mission to level the ‘size playing field’ by eliminating size discrimination in employment, medical care, public accommodations, social acceptance, and other quality-of-life avenues. Through our internet community, advocacy and the presentation of motivational seminars and social networking events, we strive to provide individuals with information, resources, and experiences that we know can facilitate self-acceptance, empowerment, and an invaluable sense of well-being in a fatphobic world. Yes, we sponsor dance parties, weekend getaways, bowling parties, and trips to beautiful Caribbean Islands. We also have a book club, bowling league and a weight loss support group. What you may not know is that an offspring of Babs premier organization is a club dedicated to community service. Membership requires commitment to the belief that individually and as a group, we can make a positive difference in the world. Through the coordination of service projects such as voter registration, service to the hungry and homeless, organizing clothing drives, or fundraising for breast cancer research we are available whenever called to assist, because we strive to uplift the quality of life of those in our community. This is an organization that can party and then take off the high heels and help others who may not even have shoes. We strive to make a difference in someone’s life!
